Hello,
Is there a way of publishing navigation pane options to a group of users?
My aim is to try and use the navigation pane options (hiding tabs) to help lock-down what the users can see on there screens, however, we have over 100 users that I would need to do this for. As far as I'm aware the only way you can change the navigation pane options is by going into the user and doing it manually, which isn't an option due to security and time everytime we have a new user to add.
I've personalised the navigation pane options window so that the users cannot edit or see anything, this was easy enough to do with all users because the consultancy company we are using has a mod that enables us to publish screen layouts (I've already questioned them on publishing nav pane options).
I know this is not an ideal way of locking down users, however, I am using security roles on top of this. This is just an extra way of tidying up what users can see.
Also if anyone else has gone live with AX 2012 and has managed to customise their own security roles, by making new privileges, using permissions and modifying access levels (diving in the deep end of user permissions) I'd be very interested in talking with you. My colleague and I have spent many hours on creating our own security roles with custom permissions etc, and we regularly meet roadblocks and scratch our heads for hours trying to figure out why it works in one screen and not the other etc. We have looked for resources online and have no luck whatsoever - we do question, Surely it can't be this difficult?
Many Thanks,
Josh
